I have nothing to add other then I saw a TD5 powered 04 D2 on the road by Lloyd Center within the last week. Had the badges and the sound of a diesel! I'm pretty sure it had Oregon plates. No idea who it was though.

I still think that it sounds like timing. check the compression. poorly adjusted valves could do that too.
I'm seriously thinking of having a TD5 swapped into my 02 Disco but am concerned about getting it through Oregon DEQ.
Does anyone have any experience with this for Oregon. Apparently it's not too difficult in Washington.
Any thoughts appreciated.
